A native Baltimorean W. Patrick Alston has performed throughout the United States and abroad as both a solo artist and an accompanist in prestigious venues that include: The White House (3), Carnegie Hall, the Mormon Tabernacle, the Auditorium De Milan. He has served as organist, pianist, and music administrator for various churches in Baltimore City and has been active in church music for over twenty (28) years. He currently serves as the worship music consultant for New Shiloh Baptist Church.
He holds the following degrees, certificates, and honors: MM from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University (2013) music education, honorary doctorate in sacred music from the Eastern Theological Seminary (2007), BA in piano performance from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (1996), Colleague certificate from the American Guild of Organists (1998).As a certified musical educator in the state of Maryland, he teaches keyboard and international baccalaureate music theory at Baltimore City College High School. He is the principal accompanist for the renowned Baltimore City College High School Choirs under the direction of Ms. Linda Hall (1999-2013), currently under the direction of Mr. Marcus Smith. He taught piano and organ at the Nathan Carter School of Music (1996-2007).
