He started in the music business in the early 90s after attending Trebas Recording Institute for recording engineering and production. He worked at BMI Inc. LA assisting Songwriters and Publishers with the process of establishing BMI recognized song catalogs and advising them on publishing administration procedures.
As an engineer he recorded and mixed numerous projects covering all spectrums of music from R&B to country. In 1997 he executive produced with Pastor James Doggette and Madison Mission SDA on their initial project “Open Praise” featuring Lisa Page. Since then He’s done live sound production for the GMWA and the National Baptist Convention. Franklin has built recording studios, installed pro audio gear and consulted multiple churches on their audio/visual systems.
Currently he’s the owner of PURNELL AUDIO, a consultancy firm that specializes in the design, assessment and installation of Home theater, church A/V and recording studios. He presently serves on the faculty for the Gospel Music Workshop
of America instructing a class on legal issues in the Music Business. He developed a workshop called “Music2MyEars” that trains on the specifics of audio for churches and individuals interested in learning various techniques to increase their skill level.
